Ahead of the game's full release on February 28, 2025, we held an open beta test in November 2024. In response to requests from players who were unable to participate the first time or simply wish to play again, we've decided to hold a second open beta test.

OBT 2 adds some new content to enjoy, as well as new bonuses for participating, which can be claimed in the full version.
We hope you consider participating.

Open Beta Test 2 Content

  • Flagship Monster Arkveld Joins the Beta!

    Flagship monster Arkveld and returning monster Gypceros are joining players in the wilds for OBT2!

    • Note: A Slaying Quest for Arkveld has been specially prepared for OBT2 as a high difficulty quest.
    • After completing the quest Doshaguma Hunt, talk to Alma at the Base Camp to unlock optional quests for Arkveld and Gypceros.
    • After completing the Arkveld optional quest, Arkveld will begin to appear in locales very infrequently.

  • Training Area

    An area exclusively for solo play where you can practice using all the different weapons on offer.
    In addition, you will automatically revive if you faint, and the amount of consumable items you hold will not decrease.

  • Private Lobbies

    You can create private lobbies that are only available to join via a lobby ID search.
    Private lobbies allow for a maximum of 16 players.

  • Online Single Player

    A mode where players can explore the wilds by themselves without joining a lobby.
    The pause feature is also available in the Start Menu.
    You can use an SOS Flare to temporarily play in a multiplayer session.

  • Character Creation

    Character creation is available in the OBT with the full suite of features that will be available in the full version! During the OBT period, you'll also be able to remake your character as many times as you like.
    You can also carry over your character creation data into the full version, so use this chance to design your perfect hunter and Palico.

  • Story Trial

    In the Story Trial, you can experience the opening cutscene and play through the Chatacabra hunt with basic tutorials. Get a feel for the weapon mechanics and experience the seamless transitions from cutscenes into gameplay.

  • Doshaguma Hunt

    In the Doshaguma Hunt, the goal is to defeat the alpha of the Doshaguma pack. Explore the vast locale on your Seikret and switch between two different weapon types on the fly as you experience the latest in hunting action.

You can use an SOS Flare during either quest. Use an SOS Flare to play with other players online, or to call for help from NPC Support Hunters—up to three of whom can join your party at once.
Multiplayer also features crossplay support letting you connect with players across different platforms.

Participate in the OBT 2 to receive bonuses that you can claim in the full version of the game.

  • Note: To claim these bonuses in the full version of the game, you must use the same platform account that you used to play the OBT.
    You must be connected to the internet to receive these bonuses.
  • Note: Open Beta Test bonuses will be granted to accounts whose character data was created during the Open Beta Test. If you download the OBT game software but do not create character data, you will not qualify for the bonuses.
  • Note: Open Beta Test bonuses may be made available separately at a later date.
  • - You can only receive one "Open Beta Test Bonus Pendant" per account, even if you participate in both the OBT in November 2024 and OBT 2.
  • - The "OBT 2 Bonus Item Pack" can be received by participating in either OBT 2 test period (From Friday, February 7, 2025 or from Friday, February 14, 2025). Even if you participate in both test periods, you can only receive one "OBT 2 Bonus Item Pack."If you participated in the OBT in November 2024, you'll be able to claim both the "Open Beta Test Bonus Item Pack" and the "Open Beta Test 2 Bonus Item Pack."

Transferring Your Character Data to the Full Version

If you play the full version of the game with the same account that you used to play the Open Beta Test, you will be able to transfer the character creation data for your hunter and Palico.

  • Note: You must be connected to the Internet to transfer your character data to the full version.
  • Note: Character data created in the OBT will be saved on the server, and will be available to you when creating your character in the full version.
  • Note: Only character data (from character creation) can be transferred. No other data will carry over.
  • Note: Character data (from character creation) may not carry over to the full version due to unexpected behavior or malfunctions.
  • Note: You will be able to transfer your character design to the full game. However, certain elements like design codes will differ in the full game.
  • - If you participated in both open beta tests and carry your data over to the full version, note that it will be your character design data from OBT 2 that will be carried over.
Note of Caution When Transferring Character Creation Data to the Full Game

Although Character Creation data can be transferred to the full game,we have confirmed reports of some players being unable to transfer their data to the full game's servers after using the "Edit Character" option to re-edit their characters in the "Select Saved Data" screen.

■ How the Issue Occurs

We've confirmed that the issue occurs after using the "Edit Character" option to re-edit character databut then closing the game immediately afterwards, without selecting the saved data and beginning gameplay.

Note: In this case, character data prior to the edit will be transferred to the full game.

■ Troubleshooting Method

If you use the "Edit Character" option to re-edit your character in the Open Beta Test, select your saved data and begin gameplay at least once before closing the game.

■ For Players who Participated in the first Open Beta Test

If the above situation applies to you, please participate in the second Open Beta Test.

If saved character data from the first Open Beta Test is available locally on your hardware, it can be carried over without issue to the second Open Beta Test.

By participating in the second Open Beta Test and beginning gameplay with this saved data, it will be uploaded to the full game's servers and be capable of being transferred over.

Conditions for Participation

Those who meet the following conditions may participate:

  • - Must be within the age range specified by the game's rating based on area of residence.

  • - Must have access to an environment that is capable of participating in the test.

  • - Must have an account on your desired platform.

    • - Both periods of OBT 2 (from Feb. 7–10 and Feb. 14–18, 2025) will be available to players of the PlayStation®5 version (even those who are not subscribed to PlayStation®Plus) or the Xbox Series X|S version (even those who are not subscribed to Game Pass Core or Ultimate).
    • Note: In order to play online in the full version of the game released on Friday February 28, 2025, you will need a PlayStation®Plus subscription for the PlayStation®5 version, or a Game Pass Core or Ultimate subscription for the Xbox Series X|S version.

Required Environment Specifications

- Must have access to a broadband internet connection.

- Must have access to a PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, or a PC that meets the following operating environment requirements.

  • - The game can be played on PlayStation®5 Pro, but PS5®Pro Enhanced features are not supported.
    These features will be supported in the full version released on Friday, February 28, 2025.
  • Note: You must have the Steam client installed to play the Steam version.
  • Note: The OBT requires a minimum of 32 GB of free space for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
